About the desk

A small ledger with a long memory.

Best Travel Gear is published by Hanok Ventures and edited by Jeff Brewer. The site exists because “best travel backpack” pages are usually thin affiliate farms with invented stars. We wanted the opposite: a paper-feeling directory you can trust to say when a number is from the manufacturer — and when we simply do not know.

What we are

A curated catalog of travel kit with individual plates for products and makers. Category hubs explain the job of the gear. Trip lists are packing notes, not shopping funnels.

What we are not

• We do not invent ratings, review counts, or testimonials.
• We do not pretend a desk-research shortlist is a lab score.
• We do not hide Amazon Associates: every page says we earn from qualifying purchases, and buy buttons use a single site-wide tag.
